What does HmongMomTeaches.com collect and how is it used?

This site, www.hmongmomteaches.com operates under the name Hmong Mom Teaches and/or Embrace Our Language, LLC (“our”, “us”, “me”, “I”, or “we”). The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to inform you what personal data we may collect when you visit this site (the “website”, “this site”) and how it may be used. This statement only applies to this website.

In terms of the site’s owner intentional effort to collect of personal data, that is limited to those who opt to ‘Subscribe’ to our periodic e-mails or contact us on the ‘Contact’ form.  Here, we collect e-mail addresses and names (optional).  This information is private and confidential.  We will never share or sell it to a third party.  If you contact us on the ‘Contact’ form, we will only respond to your message(s) for the duration of that contact. In other words, we won’t use your ‘Contact’ form information to send you other e-mails or sign you up to the subscriber list.

In more detail, if you opt in to the ‘Subscribe’ list, we use the ‘Newsletter’ WordPress  plugin, which collects and stores this data within system (see more on A2 Hosting below).  This allows us to collect e-mails, write and send newsletters/updates, and track those who both subscribe (and unsubscribe) automatically.  E-mails sent as part of the subscriber list may contain tracking pixels.  These pixels allow us to see when you open an e-mail as well as which links (if any) you select within this e-mail.  This allows us to adapt the future content of future newsletters and website content to that that is of greatest interest to our subscribers.  Again, none of this information will ever be shared or sold to third parties. Once subscribed to the newsletter, you may also unsubscribe at any time by clicking on the link in the e-mails or contacting us, generally.

This site uses cookies.  Cookies are small text files that are stored on your browser. In general, cookies are used to retain user preferences and provide anonymous tracking data to third party applications (e.g., Google Analytics, what we use to understand who visits our site).  Cookies can be used to provide you with a more personalized experience and speed load times on various websites.  Cookies generally make your browsing experience better. However, you may prefer to disable cookies on this site and on others. The most effective way to do this is to disable cookies in your browser.

In sum, we collect limited personal information about you.  The most apparent is your name and e-mail address as part of subscribing for updates or contacting us, generally.  This personal information can be deleted or edited by you at any time (e.g., opting in or out of the ‘Subscribe’ function).

We work hard to keep your information private, however, because the Internet can never be completely secure, you give us your information at your own risk.  If we have a security breach, we will email you within 72 hours of identification of a breach.

A2 is a website hosting service that hosts www.hmongmomteaches.com.  A2 hosting is paid website hosting service.  A2 is where www.hmongmomteaches.com resides. It is and strives to be a secure service within the usual caveats of Internet existence (see preceding paragraph).  They may also collect files that record interactions with this site (system logs) or use for this purpose other personal data such as IP address.  Here is their Privacy Policy.

Currently, Hmong Mom Teaches does not have commenting or other such functions on the website.  If this changes, this section will be updated.

We use a few affiliate links to earn a commission if you follow a link and pay for a product.  As is, we link a few products through Amazon that might be useful in assembling the pdf books.

We currently do not have advertising on Hmong Mom Teaches.  It is possible we may advertise in the future (e.g., Google AdSense) to offset costs.  When/if we do so, we will update this section.

We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, the usage of Hmong Mom Teaches. This data is anonymous; Hmong Mom Teaches cannot access or use this information in any personally-identifiable way.

We link to some social media sites:

The site has links to some social media sites, to allow sharing and commenting on Hmong Mom Teaches pages on those sites.  It is completely your option to do so.   Those sites are:

Facebook (Facebook Inc.). Facebook is a social network, and is used by this site only if you choose to share an article on your Facebook page. 

Instagram (Instagram Inc.). Instagram is a social network, and is used by this site only to allow you to access your Instagram account.

Pinterest (Pinterest Inc.). Pinterest is a social network, and is used by this site only if you choose to follow a link to  Pinterest from this website.

YouTube (Google Inc.). YouTube is a social network and is used by this site to embed YouTube videos of spoken Hmong as housed in a Hmong Mom Teaches YouTube channel.  If you watch the embedded videos or go to the ‘Hmong Mom Teaches’ YouTube Channel, you are using YouTube.
